About

Diagnostic Imaging Pathways (DIP) (imagingpathways.health.wa.gov.au) is a locally and internationally acclaimed online decision support and educational tool. It is targeted at referrers and future referrers to diagnostic imaging, imaging providers and other health professionals with the overall objectives of DIP including the following:

  1. To minimise the inappropriate use of diagnostic imaging (DI).
  2. To promote the appropriate use of DI.
  3. To educate referrers and future referrers in regards to the following:
    • - The most cost- effective DI strategies in a large number of clinical scenarios
    • - The principles of ‘Justification’ of DI procedures
    • - The risks of ionizing radiation
    • - The modalities and examinations used in DI

DIP is accredited by the National Institute for Health Care and Excellence (NICE) and endorsed by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR).
